Earlier this year, Reveler Development brought together its 53 staff members in a company-wide meeting in Portland. There, founder Tom Watson, CEO John Laliberte, and other executive leaders celebrated the company’s strong growth across its residential and commercial properties in Greater Portland in 2024. Both Reveler and its subsidiary Port Property have seen compelling growth metrics this past year which they attribute to the strong cultural values underpinning the organization.
“We have been moving through an era of significant growth in recent years” explained Laliberte. “From building an award-winning new framework for urban living at The Armature in Portland, to the successful launch of The Eddy and The Foundry at The Levee in Biddeford this spring, we’re moving through a time of innovation and expansion. And we want to both congratulate our team and share our vision for the road ahead.”
Reveler Development is a full-service, vertically integrated real estate investment, development, construction, and management company based in Portland, Maine. For more than 30 years, it has been reimagining what is possible and turning those ideas into reality. As founder Tom Watson explained, this ethos of creativity is built into the company name: “A reveler is someone who takes intense pleasure or delight in something. It comes from the Latin reveles, which means to reveal or discover.”
CEO John Laliberte explained that this strong sense of creativity drives the mission of the company today: “Our mission is to create compelling places that foster connection, engagement, and a sense of community. By building multifamily and mixed-use communities, we strive to establish vibrant, sustainable environments that translate into value for everyone involved. And while we do this, we’re dedicated to delivering on our commitments while consistently improving our processes.”
The leadership team worked closely with staff to develop five core cultural values that describe the Reveler/Port Property teams’ approach: service, excellence, innovation, collaboration, and integrity.
In January of this year, the entire company moved into a new office location at 511 Congress Street in Portland. By bringing the teams at Reveler and Port Property together and positioning the office in the heart of downtown, the organization has enhanced its accessibility and strengthened its capacity to support commercial tenants and property owners throughout the region. Additionally, an Events Team was formed this quarter to bring cross-functional teams together in collaborative activities throughout the city, from scavenger hunts to painting classes, and sporting events.
Throughout this growth and community building, Laliberte says he’s focused on maintaining a work culture where everyone can develop their potential—and truly enjoy the work.
